2017 China Summer Programme

Is your child interested in applying to go on the China Summer Programme for the summer of 2017? If so, please follow the requirements listed below. This process starts in April with a information on the program distributed to students and parents, and completed applications of interest. All students must currently be enrolled in WIA’s 5th, 6th, and 7th grades. (6th, 7th, and 8th grades for 2016-2017 school year). The minimum proficiency requirement for participating in this program is YCT (Youth Chinese Test) Level II. If this requirement has not been met, applicants will not be considered for the program.

1. Application of Interest
2. A one paged typed, double spaced in Times New Roman font size 12 essay in English. The essay must state why you are interested in studying in China, what your goals and expectations are for the experience abroad, and how you think this opportunity would benefit you personally and academically. The essay should not exceed 350 words. 
3. One recommendation form from applicant’s core class teacher
4. One recommendation form from current Chinese teacher
5. One recommendation letter from someone not related to Wesley. Pastors, club leaders, music teachers, god parents, coaches, or close family friends are all acceptable references. Letters from parents will not be accepted.

Applications will not be considered unless they are complete. All applications are due by Wednesday, April 27th at 4:00. Individual students will be notified of their appointed time for an interview with the CSP acceptance board. The announcement of acceptance will be after May 18, 2016. Once accepted, letters of commitment must be signed and turned in with a $250 deposit. 

Applications of Interest, Chinese teacher recommendation forms, and Core teacher recommendation forms are all located in the front office. 

***Next year the minimum proficiency requirement will change. Interested applicants for the 2018 China Summer Programme will need to have passed YCT Level III***
