Wesley Students Shine at GSU Chinese Calligraphy, Writing and Talent Contest

On November 7, 2014, the GSU Troy Moore Library was filled with excited Wesley students, parents and teachers to participate in GSU’s annual Chinese talent contest. The contest was designed to demonstrate talents from all age groups in the use of creative format of songs, dance, rhyme, and poetry presenting their Chinese language ability and cultural perspectives. Wesley students used Beijing Opera to showcase their unique understanding of this Chinese culture along with singing, dancing, traditional costumes and self-painted masks. Their excellent performance won first place in the talent contest!
In addition to the talent contest, Wesley students received recognition in the Chinese calligraphy and writing contest. Students, Aidan Jones, Clary Dunaway and Joshua Stewart demonstrated their basic skills and techniques of creating beautiful brush lettering and won the second place in this category. For the writing contest, Wesley sixth grader, Lily Hautau, won the third place through her balanced skills in characters writing, vocabulary choice, grammar, and coherence between sentences. Wesley parents and staff are extremely proud of how these students represented their school and demonstrated their talents.
